Travel Details

Rancho Santana is a 2700 Acre property with 5 different beaches, a number of housing options, restaurants and fantastic reviews.

Getting Here

The property is located about 2 hours south of the capital Managua and 3.5 hours north of Liberia (Costa Rica).  With that in mind we'd suggest booking flights that get in as early in the day as possible and not departing before 10am.  While there are more flights into Liberia, if you use ground transportation you must walk through the border between Costa Rica into Nicaragua and switch vehicles.  Rancho Santana can arrange shuttle service from either airport (see the FAQ) after you book your flight.

If you are determined to land as close to the Ranch as possible, Costa Esmeralda Airport is a short 25-30 minute drive from the property (for those transiting through Liberia this is the easiest option).  To book flights from Liberia to Costa Esmeralda visit Sansa air.

Once you've got your flights booked, make sure to send them to Erik@ranchosantana.com AND Steve/Amy.

ShutTle Service

Rancho Santana strongly suggests allowing them to arrange transportation from either Managua or Liberia.  They work with private companies and will group individuals arriving at similar times into SUV's, Vans or Coasters that seat from 4-20.

Driving

Cars can be rented in Managua for those who want to drive themselves, however rental car companies do not allow border crossing.  Cars can also be rented on site for those that will want / need transportation.

Where to Stay

We have blocked out the 17 Rooms located at The Inn on the Rancho Santana property.  Once all 17 rooms at The Inn are booked those staying there will get a 30% discount on the room rate. Please book directly with erik@ranchosantana.com

In addition you can book at either the Casitas or the Villas as these are all in close proximity to The Inn, this can be done on the website or via Erik.  All transportation to the welcome reception and beach party will be coordinated from The Inn.

For those interested in a stand alone home, we have reserved Casa McVay on Playa Rosada, and would suggest booking a home around it.  See the interactive (but not super technical) map.  A rental car is required for those renting a home, these can be procured on site for those using the resorts shuttle service from the airport.

A car is not required if you're staying at The Inn, Villas or Casitas, it is suggested for those that will want to explore the property.

Please be sure to email Amy, Steve and Erik not only your flight arrangements but also where you have booked to stay.

While You are Here

As we are gathering to celebrate our I DO, we encourage you to partake in many of the Ranch 'must-do' activities. The Ranch has a farm to table restaurant, yoga classes, gym, private chef services, surf lessons and rentals, spa services, nature walks horseback riding and more.  The Ranch even has it's own grocery store.

Before getting to Rancho Santana be sure to download the App, you'll find lots of useful information about the property there.

Zika Virus

As has been well covered in the news there is an outbreak of the Zika virus ongoing in South America at this time, with epidemiologists forecasting that it will spread north and affect all of Latin America and possibly the US and Canada.  Much is still unknown about this outbreak and the potential links to microcephaly cases in Brazilian new borns.  We understand that some may choose not to expose themselves especially if they may be pregnant or are thinking about getting pregnant.  The following provides an overview of the virus, the current outbreak and what the risks associated with it may be-
